I was BEYOND excited to celebrate Windsor turning three, maybe even more than Windsor herself! She’s THE BEST, so naturally we wanted this to be her BEST DAY EVER! Ever since Arabella’s summer birthday party Windsor and I have been discussing everything she wanted at her party. She is a Disney princess lover and I was not surprised she wanted a Rapunzel theme. I love this movie so it was so fun for me to execute. I went a little elaborate for some of the party details because it was Winnie's golden birthday after all.
THE DRESSES
Every year for the girl’s birthdays, we like to design and make a dress for them! They come to the local fabric store, help pick out fabric and then help design and sew their dress. I started making the unbirthday girl a dress too because that’s what happens when you have two girls! We wanted to do something in Rapunzel's colors and very princess like but not over the top costume.
INVITE
Since Rapunzel is such a beautiful story and really reminds me of the ultimate fairytale we decided to do a book style invite. I painted paper mache boxes in lavender and added cute little details inside and the most gorgeous 3D invite with all the party details.
THE PARTY
The Party was hosted at our house. I know a lot of people choose to do active locations but I just love throwing parties at our house. It gives the kids a chance to help more, and connect with friends in our home and be a bit more intimate. We moved all the furniture out of our great room and set up the entire party in there.
THE CAKE
Windsor's cake was so pretty! We had it made at our favorite bakery, Bentfork. They made these beautiful fondant flowers (that actually tasted amazing, I usually don’t like fondant) and I put a Rapunzel topper on top. They have the best cakes! FUNNY STORY, Windsor doesn’t like cake, she likes ice cream cake so we told her this was ice cream cake and had some leftover from her actual bday day. She did cry a little bit when we sang happy birthday because she was onto us!
THE PRINCESS, RAPUNZEL
We booked the most amazing princess who we have had in the past. She is completely magical and even all the adults are drawn to her and entertained by her. She is an actress and she really becomes the character she is playing. She sang beautiful songs, danced with the kids, taught them how to be a princess, blew bubbles, read a book she “borrowed from her friend Bells library”. Her name is Stephanie, check out her Instagram if you want to book her.
THE PHOTO WALL
Because we and as in not just me, the kids too (NOT GREG), love photos so much we wanted to make sure to have a giant photo wall set up, Rapunzel inspired of course! I set up this backdrop with the floating lanterns that I found on Etsy, and added a balloon arch. We added flowers to the Rapunzel colored balloons.
THE ACTIVITIES
This time I only set up two crafts for the kids because we only had a handful of guests coming and I knew Rapunzel was going to spend the bulk of the time entertaining. I did a stained glass lizard craft and sand art. Sand art is always the biggies hit. Rapunzel wowed everyone with a book, signing, dancing, princess school, parachute and a bunch of fun games.
THE FUN
YOU CAN TELL BY THESE PICTURES, WINDSOR (AND ARABELLA) IS LIVING HER ABSOLUTE BEST LIFE!
THE FOOD
Pizza and juice boxes has been my go to for the last few kids parties we’ve thrown. I threw out some salad and fruit as well and had just a few snacks available, like popcorn and cheeseballs. I might re-think cheeseballs at this age, messy hands!
THE FAVORS
I just love Windsor (obvi) and she’s the cutest (obvi) so I thought it would be fun to take a blown up poster of her gorgeous face and use that as a tile image for the favor boxes. The favor boxes were stuffed with princess theme goodies. Some people even thought this was an art piece that was permanently there!
THE THANK YOU CARDS
I always send a photo card thank you with a few pictures from the party. It took me a little longer to get to these so I am waiting for them to come in the mail and I plan to send this week!
The END of TWO, this is THREE we can’t wait until FOUR!
Xx,
Katie
